Samuel W. Bartholomew, III
Chief Executive Officer, PharmMD
As CEO and co-founder, Samuel W. “Bo” Bartholomew has led PharmMD’s nationwide expansion and year-over-year exponential growth for the past 5 years.
Prior to forming PharmMD, Bartholomew incubated a health advocacy company and a telemedicine physician access start-up company. He spent four years with HCA’s Executive Development program, where he helped build one of HCA’s newest hospitals and then helped manage HCA’s oldest hospital before leaving the company. Bartholomew is an active member with Nashville Healthcare Council, which represents the $62 billion healthcare industry. He is former Chair of Leadership Healthcare which creates networking and leadership training to over 550 healthcare executives. Bartholomew also serves on the Board for Tennessee Red Cross; Tennessee Center for Bioethics and Culture; Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation, and Freedom In Creation, which aids child soldiers’ rehabilitation in Uganda.
Bartholomew and his wife, Sarah, are the proud parents of four children: Samuel, Lilly, Charlotte and Thomas.
Brad Tice, PharmD, PMP, FAPhA
Chief Clinical Officer, PharmMD
Dr. Tice led the development of the documentation and analytics platform that PharmMD pharmacists use to deliver services. He helped develop the Clinical Programming Language to enable pharmacists to improve care at the population level and measure the results of their services.
Tice began his pharmacy career with Osco Drug, first as a pharmacist in Kansas City, Kan., and later as a pharmacy manager for Osco Drug in Davenport, Iowa. Tice became an assistant and associate professor at the Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and Director of the Osco Drug/Drake University Community Care Laboratory.
Tice was a consultant during the inception of Pharmacy Quality Alliance in 2006. He developed the initial environmental scan of quality measures, and served as Co-Chair of the Medication Adherence Cluster Group and Chair of the Inappropriate Medications Subgroup. Now he is a Co-Chair of the Quality Metrics Workgroup.
Tice has received numerous awards including the Iowa Pharmacy Association Young Pharmacist of the Year in 2002. In 2008, he became a fellow of the American Pharmacists Association and Health Care Hero by the Nashville Business Journal. Additionally, Tice was appointed as Speaker-elect of the American Pharmacists Association House of Delegates.
Tice earned his Bachelor of Science and Doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Kansas.
Tice and his wife, Angela, have four children. His personal interests include his children’s athletics, baseball, soccer, volleyball, basketball, football, traveling with his family and the Kansas Jayhawks. He is also an active member of the Franklin Christian Church and CEO Fellowship in Brentwood, Tenn.
David Adams
Chief Operating Officer, PharmMD
David Adams is a senior partner at Ingenuity Associates, a technology firm providing architecture, data center and application relocation, infrastructure, Cybersecurity and IT services. Ingenuity Associates has won the Middle Tennessee Chamber of Commerce Fastest 50 growing businesses the last three years. Ingenuity provides services primarily for Fortune 250 customers.
Adams began his career in healthcare as a paramedic and high level rescue technician. Later he moved into hospital environments and worked as a flight paramedic and left ventricular device technician. He has also authored over 20 medical abstracts at medical scientific conferences, been published numerous times, and presented at world medical conferences on several occasions.
Adams is the former Assistant Vice President for HCA leading Enterprise Telecommunications, where he reduced telecommunications expenses by 30 percent. Also, he won the Aberdeen award for top 10 best processes for telecommunications expense management. Prior to this appointment, he was the division CIO for HCA’s southeast division managing the needs of 27 hospitals.
He holds an M.B.A. from the Vanderbilt University Owen School of Management.
Michael Ansel
Chief Development Officer, PharmMD
Michael Ansel is a seasoned healthcare veteran with more than 25 years of experience in a variety of healthcare settings. Prior to PharmMD, he worked at CorSolutions, a health enhancement and disease management company. After CorSolutions and Matria merged, Ansel led the business development efforts for Matria until the company’s sale to Inverness Medical in 2008.
Ansel also worked at Accordant Health Services, an innovative company focused on managing individuals with complex and uncommon medical conditions.
From 1991-1999, Ansel worked at the Diabetes Treatment Centers of America leading the development of wound care clinics, retinal centers and innovative programs to maintain patient stability during and after surgery. Additionally, Ansel was involved in the original development of a population-based program for diabetes care that launched the industry of disease management.
Ansel began his career in the medical diagnostic industry with Boehringer Mannheim Corp, where he consistently led his team to success in the growing national market of diabetes-related devices.
Ansel received a B.A. degree from the University of Georgia.
